Activities (2025-26)

 1)  Decoration Activity on the Occasion of Teej Festival (6th August, 2025)


The Department of Fine Arts successfully organized a Decoration Activity on the Occasion of Teej Festival on 6th August 2025 in the college campus. The event provided students with a lively and creative platform to celebrate the traditional festival of Teej through artistic decoration. Participants enthusiastically engaged in beautifying the परिसर with vibrant rangoli, floral arrangements, decorative swings, and colorful drapes that reflected the rich cultural heritage of the festival. 2) Rangoli Competition on the theme of Swachh Bharat (11th August, 2025)

The session was conducted by resource person Ms. Nancy, who guided participants through various techniques such as block printing, brushwork, stencil design, and tie-dye. 1) Workshop on Pot Decor 
Department of fine arts PCM S.D College organized workshop on Pot Decor for under graduate on 12th August, 2024. The workshop provided students with a creative platform to explore their artistic skills and express themselves through vibrant pot decoration. Participants enthusiastically engaged in the activity, showcasing their innovative designs and aesthetic sense.

 




2) Workshop on Acrylic Painting 

Department of fine arts PCM S.D College organized workshop on Acrylic Painting for under graduate on 16th August, 2024. In addition to sharing her insights with the students, Ms. Aashima Chopra, Assistant Professor from the Department of Fine Arts, provided practical expertise on the subject. The students thoroughly enjoyed the two hours of engaging instruction. She explained how acrylic painting techniques help artists explore colour theory, brushwork, and layering methods. This knowledge enables them to create depth, texture, and vibrant compositions. She also emphasized the importance of creativity and individual expression, encouraging participants to convey emotions and stories through their artwork. 





3) Poster Making Competition on Social Awareness

The Department of Fine Arts of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Poster Making Competition on “Social Awareness on 20th August 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Department of Fine ArtsStudents creatively showcased themes such as environmental protection, mental health, gender equality, road safety, and anti-drug awareness. Their posters reflected both artistic skill and a strong sense of social responsibility. Faculty members appreciated the students’ efforts, and the event drew supportive audiences from various departments, fostering creativity and awareness through art.


4) Workshop on Clay Modelling : Innovation for a Start-up

On 24th September 2024, the Department of Fine Arts, under the direction of the Institution's Innovation Cell, organized a Workshop on Clay Modelling: Innovation for a Start-up. The purpose of the workshop was to inspire students to explore the entrepreneurial potential of creative arts and to understand how traditional techniques like clay modelling can be transformed into innovative start-up ideas. The session was part of a broader educational initiative aimed at integrating artistic expression with entrepreneurial thinking. The workshop began with an introduction to the fundamentals of clay modelling, including tools, materials, and techniques. Participants then engaged in hands-on activities, creating models that reflected both artistic flair and functional design concepts. Students enthusiastically participated and gained valuable insights into turning their artistic talents into viable entrepreneurial opportunities.











 5) Terracotta Jewellery Making Workshop

The Department of Fine Arts of organized a Terracotta Jewellery Workshop on 28th September 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the traditional art of terracotta jewellery making. Participants learned various techniques to mould, design, and decorate clay into beautiful and wearable art pieces. The hands-on session fostered creativity and helped students explore eco-friendly fashion alternatives. The event was well-received, with students enthusiastically engaging in the creative process and showcasing their unique handcrafted designs. 

 


        6) Sketching Demonstration Workshop for Deaf      and Mute Students 

A Sketching Demonstration Workshop for deaf and mute students was organized on 20th December ,2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Department of Fine Arts, Ms. Aashima, Assistant Professor from the department, conducted the session and provided hands-on experience in painting techniques. The students were visibly happy and enthusiastic throughout the session. They expressed a strong desire for more such inclusive and creative workshops in the future.

7) Inter College Poster Making Competition Participation 

Gauri, a student of B.A. Semester 6, proudly represented our institution by participating in an Inter-College Poster Making Competition held on 20th February 2025 at Guru Nanak Dev University College. The theme of the competition was "ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ" (Mother Tongue). Her creative work beautifully highlighted the essence and importance of preserving our linguistic heritage. Gauri’s participation was a commendable effort in promoting cultural values through art.





 8) National Webinar on Entrepreneurship through Mandala Art 

The Department of Fine Arts, under the guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a National Webinar on Entrepreneurship through Mandala Art” on 24th February, 2025. The session featured two esteemed resource persons: Mr. Vinay Vaid, Assistant Professor at Khalsa College Co-Education, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, and Mrs. Rakinder Kaur, a professional Mandala artist from New Delhi, Senior Vice President of Art Affina, and President of Art Affina Organization affiliated with IWS Canada. The webinar aimed to highlight the scope of Mandala Art as a form of creative entrepreneurship. Both speakers shared their experiences and insights on turning passion for art into professional ventures. The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and art enthusiasts, inspiring many to explore Mandala Art as a potential career path.

9)  Portrait Making Competition on Zakir Hussain Ji 

The Department of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Department of Music (Instrumental), organized a Portrait Making Competition on 8th March 2025 in the Fine Arts Department. The theme of the competition was "Zakir Hussain Ji – A Legend of Rhythm"Students showcased their artistic skills by creating expressive and detailed portraits, paying tribute to the tabla maestro. The event encouraged creativity while celebrating the legacy of a living icon in Indian classical music.

10) Workshop on “The Art on Paper: Exploring Innovative Expressions” 

 The Department of Fine Arts organized a three-day workshop titled “The Art on Paper: Exploring Innovative Expressions” from 26th to 28th March 2025 under the guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The workshop provided a creative platform for students to express their artistic abilities through decorative file-making. Participants showcased remarkable creativity and skill by designing and decorating files with innovative techniques, textures, and thematic concepts. The hands-on experience not only enhanced their aesthetic sense but also allowed them to explore paper as a versatile medium of artistic expression. Students enthusiastically engaged in the activity and expressed a strong desire for more such opportunities that encourage practical learning and creative exploration. 





11) Rangoli Competition 

 The Department of Fine Arts organized a vibrant Rangoli Competition on 21st April 2025. Students enthusiastically participated, creating intricate and colourful rangoli designs that reflected cultural richness, creativity, and artistic finesse. The event offered a platform for students to showcase their talent in traditional art forms while promoting teamwork and aesthetic expression. Participants enjoyed the experience and expressed interest in more such creative activities in the future.




12) Workshop on Empowering Specially-Abled Entrepreneurs with Colours 

A Workshop on Empowering Specially-Abled Entrepreneurs with Colours was organized on 22nd  May, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deaf and Dumb School. Ms. Aashima, Assistant Professor from the department, conducted the session and provided hands-on experience in creative painting techniques. The participants were visibly happy and enthusiastic throughout the session. They expressed a strong desire for more such inclusive and empowering workshops in the future.
